There’s a key period of time where children’s bodies and minds are developing and if we miss that period it’s very hard to reverse the impact of malnutrition, so we really are looking at emergency situations when we’re dealing with malnutrition. There needs to be a complementary approach to looking at the root causes and addressing them at the same time or else we’ll be needing to do this with each subsequent generation.

MSF teams in Haiti treated more than 41,000 people for cholera and cholera-like symptoms in cholera treatment centers since the outbreak began.

Since cholera began to spread in Haiti, MSF has treated more than 18,000 patients in 27 Cholera Treatment Centers (CTCs) throughout the country and is anticipating treating many more in the coming days.
